The Italic Award

The Italic Award is an initiative of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Southeast (IACCSE) that every year honors the “Ambassadors of the Made in Italy” who distinguished themselves by promoting the Italian excellence in the American market influencing its lifestyle and culture.

Italic is the name given to this prestigious award presented by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Southeast as emblem of the  Italian essence, craftsmanship and innovation. It has been designed by the renowned Italian designer Dodo Arslan whose eclectic creativity gave birth to unique pieces as well as serial productions, ranging from electronic devices to bronze fusions. His works have been exhibited in various museums around the world.

Every year the Italic Award is realized with different materials for the purpose of promoting the quality of Italian design companies and the work of their artisans.

Acrylic Glass | Crafted by Giovanni Scacchi, Metea (2021)

The 2021 Award has been realized in collaboration with artisan Giovanni Scacchi, who has developed the technique and explored the versatility and potential of acrylic glass for international Architects and Designers. The color chosen for the 2021 Award is the iconic Italian Savoy blue, resembling the ocean with its multiple shades.

The Creative Mind Behind the Italic Award

Dodo Arslan is an eclectic Italian designer, esteemed by Taschen as one of the 90 top designers and firms worldwide, living and working between Miami and Milan.

In twenty years of activity his creativity gave birth to unique pieces as well as serial productions, ranging from electronic devices to bronze fusions.

The Studio is specialized in furniture, light and accessories design, developed with excellent craftmen and brands, and assists the best architects and interior designers, conceiving and realizing tailored solutions (both for residential and contract) as well as unique light and designart installations.

Dodo Arslan collaborated with Banca Svizzera Italiana, Bimota, Campari, Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, Fondo Ambiente Italiano, Jacuzzi, Pirelli, Riva 1920, Sambonet and Terzani.

Arslan has been awarded the Young&Design prize, as well as the Mini Design Award, the Pirelli Pzero competition and the Art Directors Club award. His works have been exhibited in various museums around the world and Otto armchair entered the Permanent Collection of Italian Design. His unique and limited editions were auctioned by Pierre Bergé & Associés, the renowned Brux-elles gallery.

He has held lectures and Workshops at Design faculties in Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Egypt, England and Sweden.

Before running his own studio he worked at Studio & Partners (N. Bewick, M. De Lucchi, T. Fritze) for Deutsche Post, British American Tobacco, Zumtobel Staff winning the Design Plus award, at Continuum (Milano – Boston – Seoul) for Motorola, Hewlett Packard, Elan, Voelki and Samsung winning the Good Design Award and the KIDA Grand Prize.
